Ikigai: The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life #WhatKavyaKnows

 Hello TCB Fam,

Surprise I am back today with another article that talks all about IKIGAI.

Ikigai (ee-key-guy) is a Japanese concept that combines the terms iki, meaning “alive” or “life,” and gai, meaning “benefit” or “worth.”

When combined, these terms mean that which gives your life worth, meaning, or purpose.

Now I know you must have seen the book Ikigai somewhere or the other and many of us must have read that as well. But today I am not here to tell you what that book says or whether or not one must read it or not.

I am here to explain to you the diagram given below.

Please observe the above image very carefully. On observation, we can see that there are 4 major circles.

The first one says “What you love”, now this can be anything that you love doing, your interests, strengths, your professional and personal achievements, activities you love doing, a hard skill that you think you are good at, the soft skills that you feel you have, a hobby, a degree or certification that you are proud of.

The second one tells “What you are good at”, the passion that you have, that you feel you can continue till death. Basically, from the first circle that depicts your passion you have to choose what you can make your profession.

Once you understand what could possibly be your profession you have to see the ways in which you can monetize it and be financially independent. So, the third circle speaks “What you can be paid for”, if we see this technology-based environment, we can say that one can have more than one source of income.

And, the last circle voices “What the World Needs”, once you find out your profession you have to convert it into your Vocation, which means now that you have your voice as to what you want to do in the long run you can now move ahead to find out your Mission for your lifetime.

When you carefully see your Venn Diagram you can see there is this one thing that is common in all of the circles. Don’t worry if you get more than one common thing. If you are getting 2-3 things then you can ask yourself one question “Which one I cannot sacrifice for the other”. If you feel you can find the answer to that question, I am sure you will be left with the one thing that will be known as your Niche. That niche will only be available to you, you will be the specialized human for it and everyone will be seeking your help to achieve it as well.

I encourage everyone to do this activity at least once in their life to know what their niche is and what is the one thing that they want to do with all of their hard work without getting bored for the rest of their life. If you really find this article helpful, please share your reviews down below. And don’t forget to follow me on my Instagram.

Thank you!

Happy Hump Day!
